This news is just surfacing now but apparently the Marlins are about to make a huge move. Heading to Toronto is apparently Jose Reyes, Mark Buerhle, Josh Johnson, Emilio Bonifacio, and four million dollars. Coming to Miami will be Yunel Escobar, Adeiny Hechavarria, Henderson Alvarez, Justin Nicolino, Jake Marisnick, Jeff Mathis and Anthony DeSciafani. Keep reading for my initial reactions regarding the trade.
Initial Reaction #1) Holy shit, that’s a lot of major-league talent to give up.
Second Reaction) The Marlins left side of the infield still looks pretty bad unless they make a big move in free agency.
Third Reaction) Henderson Alvarez and Justin Nicolino are two pitchers that I like, but I’ve always been higher on Nicolino than others.
Fourth Reaction) What is Jeff Mathis doing here?
Fifth Reaction) Jake Marisnick is a crazy talented athlete, but he’s also very raw. He was hyped up heading into last season, but had a pretty crummy year.
More to come from me on this trade up at Marlins Prospects and of course, at Fish Stripes.
