- It was a hit parade in Hickory for the Grasshoppers on Wednesday evening, and leading the pack was 1B Angel Reyes, who picked up an eye-popping 5 hits in 7 at bats. The performance was reflective of the kind of half-month Reyes has had: through his last 50 at bats, the young Venezuelan has collected 19 hits, but only 3 of those have been extra base hits. Indeed, only 1 of the 5 last night went for extra bases. Reyes is not much of a prospect, and is really only for organizational depth, but the 21-year-old is still young and could develop into something.
- SS Anfernee Seymour also managed to smack 2 hits in 7 tries on Wednesday to continue the solid swing he’s been on since May. In 25 at bats, he’s now gotten 9 hits in June, and has a .310 batting average since the beginning of May. The free-swinging Bahamian had struck out quite a bit in May though, and while it looked for a time like he was putting an end to that in June (only 1 strikeout through his first 6 games of the month), he made up for it by whiffing 3 times last night.
